As a recent graduate of the Fintech programme, I can confidently state that the programme’s curriculum is robust and that its hands-on learning opportunities provided me with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in my current role. The core courses offered in the programme provided me with a solid foundation in financial theory, programming languages, and state-of-the-art machine-learning techniques. In addition, elective courses such as Data Mining for Fintech and Statistical Modelling and Analytics in Financial Engineering allowed me to explore my areas of interest and customise my education according to my career goals.I hope all of you enjoy your experience here and find your passion to pursue your goals.
During the programme, the department provided me with resources such as scholarships and internship opportunities to support my academic and career development. In fact, I received more than five scholarships and nominations from the department over the past four years alone. I was also fortunate to secure an internship at the Development Bank of Singapore in my first year, thanks to the programme’s connections in the banking industry.
As a second-year student, I have gained valuable insights from the Fintech programme, which integrates finance with technology through the application of computer programming, mathematics, and modelling to financial applications. The courses offered by the programme have allowed me to develop a profound understanding of Fintech technologies and products, such as blockchains, smart contracts, and cryptocurrencies. The programme has also provided me with opportunities to connect with Fintech experts, which has been instrumental in my career planning. Overall, my experience thus far has been fantastic, and I am delighted to be part of this programme.
