First, I am glad to have chosen Fintech as my major at CUHK. This programme not only delves into finance and mathematics in detail but also provides comprehensive training in programming. More importantly, it offers courses that introduce advanced technologies such as machine learning and blockchains, with a focus on their applications in finance. These experiences helped me build a solid foundation for my future career.

During the programme, the department provided me with resources such as scholarships and internship opportunities to support my academic and career development. In fact, I received more than five scholarships and nominations from the department over the past four years alone. I was also fortunate to secure an internship at the Development Bank of Singapore in my first year, thanks to the programme’s connections in the banking industry.

Studying in the Fintech programme has been an enriching experience for me, even though I am only in my first year. The programme has provided me with numerous concepts that can be applied to real-world problems. The well-designed curriculum has laid a solid foundation for future learning and enhanced my mathematical and analytical skills while providing insights into how technology interacts with finance.

The rise of automated financial services has emphasised the importance of learning new concepts and technologies, giving us an advantage in the industry, and this is what studying Fintech provides.
